Questions & Answers
As some of you may know, despite me being an introvert, I do like to talk with random people about random things (*as long as said things don't go against what The Bible says*) and sometimes, whenever an opportune time comes, something about my faith and ways that I go about issues related to it.
However, and I'm not trying to sound like a "holier-than-thou"-type here, but some people are just very rambunctious and do not have much of a moral code when it comes to what they say and how they act. I know this because, both online and in real-life, a lot of people like to tell some bad remarks about one another and their beliefs, and I have never been a fan of that at all, especially when I was still in public school. Even today, in tech school (*as of me typing this out*), all I hear around me are guys a couple of years older than me talking smack about everybody in the classroom, and everything in general.
And, before somebody thinks that I go mad every time this happens (*In which it happens a lot, by the way.*), I always remember that not everybody has found Yeshua yet, and some people just don't want to at all. As the Apostle Paul written to the Corinthians, "All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not" (1 Corinthians 10:23 (KJV)). In other words, while G-d has given you the freedom to do whatever you want, a lot of things that you might want to do aren't going to build you up, or build up others around you (That's why we have to cling to God every day that we can, because he tells us the right way to take our freedoms in!). As such, there are always going to be people walking around on the Earth that do not believe in anything at all, and if all they want to do is live for their own self, God will repay them accordingly.
One strategy that I use is that I always try to treat people with dignity and respect, even if they don't treat me with those things myself. That helps most of the time, as well as standing up for somebody else who has been belittled. And for those of you think that said act is unbiblical, Yeshua himself did that when the Pharisees tried to kill a woman who got caught in the act of adultery by throwing stones at her (Read John 8 for more details on what happened), and plus, we are commanded to, "Bear one another's burdens" in Galatians 6:2.
I ask this question because sometimes, I get really angry if I get made fun of, and other times, I get really angry if somebody else has been belittled as well, sometimes, I still hold on to my anger even when those events have long passed.
What are some useful (*and biblical*) strategies that help you all be Christ-like in a world full of manure? Let me know by replying to this forum post with some helpful information. Any help would be well appreciated!
