Last night, my Rabbi gave me this. It’s called Daily Bread. It’s a daily Bible journal, with short potions to read each day. It sounds like this might be beneficial for you. You could document your prayers with this as well. I’m going to start it today!
That’s a wonderful idea, Rebekah, and is very inspiring as well. The Psalms are very powerful, so you can’t go wrong there. Early on, I learned the Ana Bechoach prayer, and it changed my life. I pray it a couple times a day. It’s a relatively short prayer and takes just about a minute to recite it. It’s 42 words, divided into 7 lines, with 6 words in each line. I believe that it’s best to say it in pairs; or two words at a time. It enables us to bring down much light to extinguish the darkness around us. Also, each morning whenever my feet hit the floor, I recite the Mode Ani prayer. That one is super easy to learn and very short. There are YouTube videos that instruct us how to say these, and they’ve even put them to music, which makes them so much easier to learn.
