Healing In It's Wings

In The Gospels, we are told about the woman who had a discharge of blood for twelve years. After she had exhausted every resource available, she never was healed. According to The Torah, this discharge made her spiritually unclean. I cannot begin to imagine the suffering that this poor woman had to endure in every way.

"When a woman has a discharge of her blood for many days at a time other than her menstrual period, or if it continues beyond her period, she will be unclean all the days of her unclean discharge, just as she is during the days of her menstruation." - Leviticus 15:25

Here is her story, according to Matthew, Mark and Luke:

"And behold, a woman who had suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment,

for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.”

Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well." - Matthew 9:20-22

"And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years,

and who had suffered much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was no better but rather grew worse.

She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment.

For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.”

And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.

And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my garments?

And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’”

And he looked around to see who had done it.

But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.

And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” - Mark 5:25-34

"And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone.

She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased.

And Jesus said, “Who was it that touched me?” When all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!”

But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out from me.

And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed.

And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” - Luke 8:43-48

So, why did she believe that if she touched the "Fringe of His Garment" that she would be healed? First off, let's establish exactly what this fringe was, which was the tzitzit. The tzitzit are fringes or tassels worn on the four corners of any traditional or ceremonial garments by Jewish males as a reminder of the 613 commandments. The Mitzvah of The Tzitzit is given to us in both the Books of Numbers and Deuteronomy.

"And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Speak to the people of Israel, and tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a cord of blue on the tassel of each corner.

And it shall be a tassel for you to look at and remember all the commandments of the LORD, to do them, not to follow after your own heart and your own eyes, which you are inclined to whore after.

So you shall remember and do all my commandments, and be holy to your God.

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God: I am the LORD your God." - Numbers 15:37-41

"You shall make yourself tassels on the four corners of the garment with which you cover yourself." - Deuteronomy 22:12

The Rabbi's all teach that there are 613 Commandments (Mitzvot) in The Torah, consisting of 248 Positive Commandments and 365 Negative Commandments. The Mitzvah of tzitzit is equivalent to all 613 Mitzvot, as the Numeric Value of the word tzitzit ( ציצית ) is 600. Six hundred, plus the five knots and the eight strands, equals 613.

The Book of Malachi speaks of The Messiah Yeshua as "The Sun of Righteousness":

"But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall." - Malachi 4:2

Check out the Numeric Perfection encoded in The Hebrew section of this verse, which is translated as "But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings."

וזרחה לכם יראי שמי שמש צדקה ומרפא בכנפיה

Numeric Value = 2220 ( 111 x 20 ) or ( 37 x 60 )

Here we see Our Creator's Fingerprint of 37, see here for much more:

The Hebrew word used here for "Wings" is "K'NaPeyha" ( כנפיה ) is also translated as "Corners" and is the exact same root word used in Numbers 15:38 ( כנפי ) and Deuteronomy 22:12 ( כנפות ), which are tranlsated as "Corners". Understanding this, we can now she why she reached out to grab Yeshua's tzitzit. It seems as if this woman identified Yeshua as this prophesied Messiah, spoken of in Malachi. Just as it was written then, "the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings (or corners)" and because she had faith in this, when she touched his fringe, she was healed.

I have written about this verse in Malachi before, as it is an establish Messianic Verse. The sun that we see in the firmament, is a visible symbol (or emblem) of the Sun of Righteousness; Yeshua Himself. Just as The Sun pours out its light in abundance onto this physical world, Yeshua (The Son of G*d) does the same spiritually. Psalm 84 actually declares that HaShem Elohim (The LORD G*d) is the Sun and Shield.

"For the LORD God is a Sun and Shield;

the LORD bestows favor and honor.

No good thing does he withhold

from those who walk uprightly." - Psalm 84:11

HaShem Elohim is our provision and protection. He provides grace and glory as well as strength to those who walk uprightly. As the "Sun", He provides all needed power, sustenance and guidance for our lives. As the "Shield", He provides protection from all evil and danger. Here's a few verses that help establish these truths.

The Sun

"And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night—and the stars.

And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,

to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.

And the evening and the morning were the fourth day." - Genesis 1:16-19

"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” - John 8:12

The Shield

"The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." - Psalm 18:2

"Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great." - Psalm 18:35

"Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed." Psalm 84:9

"He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler." - Psalm 91:4

"You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD! He is their help and their shield." - Psalm 115:11

"Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him." - Proverbs 30:5

"In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one" - Ephesians 6:16
