How did The Magi know about The Birth of Yeshua?

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

In this awesome video, Dr. Michael Hiser shows a very interesting theory about how The Magi (or The Wisemen) knew about the birth of Yeshua. Using modern astrological software, Hiser has put together a very compelling argument for a special set of astrological circumstances that point to the date of 9/11, 3 B.C. - which is very interesting as this date corresponds to the Jewish calendar date of Tishri 1, which is The Jewish New Year's Day; aka The Feast of Trumpets. This was a historical day that marked the first day of the reign of every new Davidic King. Knowing that Yeshua was most definitely The King of all Kings and was from the lineage of David himself, this seems extremely remarkable and very fitting all around.

The Gospel of Matthew tells us about The Magi and The Star of Bethlehem, so it's obvious that they were watching the night sky.

"Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem,

saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him;

and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet:

“‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,

are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;

for from you shall come a ruler

who will shepherd my people Israel.’”

Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.”

After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was.

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.

And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way." - Matthew 2:1-12

It's not a huge stretch of the imagination to think that ancient Jewish people processed sacred celestial wisdom, as did most other ancient people. The difference is that they did not look to the stars for divination purposes (such as astrology, horoscopes, etc.), as The Torah strictly prohibits all forms of divination. That being said, there is much evidence that exists today that ancient Jewish people were well aware of the 12 zodiac signs; which correspond to the 12 tribes of Israel and even the 12 disciples of Yeshua. There are at least seven synagogues in Israel built 1,500 to 1,700 years ago feature mosaics of the zodiac.

G*d loves numbers, and if we pay attention, we can see his divine fingerprint throughout all of creation by observation of these sacred numbers; as they just repeat over and over again. The Scriptures contain as much heavenly wisdom as they do earthly, if not more. Everything that we can be observe in our physical reality is repeatable from greatest to smallest, over and over again. It's all that way by design, nothing is random and there is no such thing as coincidence.
