Psalm 23 - For He Is With Me

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

"{A Psalm of David.} The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want." - Psalm 23:1

Of course, we know that Yeshua (Jesus) is The Good Shepard, who laid down His Own Life for all of mankind:

"I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father."

John 10:11-18

The Number 23 itself points to Yeshua; as 23 is the sum of 1 + 22. The first letter in the Hebrew Alephbet is Aleph ( א ) and the last letter (22nd) is Tav ( ת ). We know that Yeshua is The Alpha ( ) and Omega ( ) - in Hebrew these two letters would be Aleph Tav (The Beginning and The End).

"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." - Revelation 22:13

Not only that, as we know every Hebrew letter has a meaning. The meaning of Aleph is ( א ) G*d and The Tav ( ת ) is The Cross. I've covered this in others posts, but will reiterate this as the Aleph is made up of Two Yods ( י ) and One Vav ( ו ). The The Numeric Value of the Hebrew Letter Aleph ( א ) - points straight to HaShem ( יהוה ) ; as the Numeric Value of Yod ( י ) is Ten and the Numeric Value of Vav ( ו ) is Six.

These meanings are best illustrated in the images below.

Since we understand the hidden meaning of this Sacred Word ( את ), which I contend is literally "The Word", we know from John's Gospel that Yeshua was there with G*d in the beginning...right there in Genesis 1:1 beside G*d ( אלהים )

Psalm 23:3 has an interesting Hebrew word ( Magal / מעגל ) used here that is always translated as "Paths" - but another translation is"Circle". Understanding this more accurate translation as "Circles", instead of "Paths" makes more sense in this case. As the text typically reads, "He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake" - however, Yeshua tells us that there is only One Way (or Path) of Righteousness; so to me, this is a poor translation, as "Paths" has caused questions in my own mind. With that better understanding of what this word Magal ( מעגל ) also means, "Circles"; we can see how the trials and obstacles that we face in life are more akin to circles, as they always come back around again and again - just as a circle. I break this down in great detail, in the following post regarding how the Eight Beatitudes can be seen as a repeating cycle of every individuals' spiritual growth:

From this understanding, we can see how that when we mess something up in life, we can learn from our mistakes and are given the opportunity to do it another way when it comes back around again (as it always does). These circles are a gift, giving us opportunities not to make the same mistakes over and over again.

If we go 26 letters into this Psalm, just past the header of this Psalm - "A Psalm of David", we get the following phrase in Verse Four:

“For You Are With Me”

כי־אתה עמדי

Of course, we know that the sacred four letter name of Our LORD ( יהוה ) has a Numeric Value of 26; and there are 26 letters Before and After the phrase, “For You Are With Me” ( כי־אתה עמדי ). So we can see that the numeric center of this Psalm are the three Hebrew words that make up the phrase “For You Are With Me” ( כי־אתה עמדי ) - which is ultimately the meaning of the entire Psalm. Not to mention, HaShem - literally translated as "THE NAME"of Our LORD ( יהוה ) - appears in both the top half and bottom half of the Psalm as well. To me, this is symbolic of the omnipresence of HaShem and how He is always around us, on either side, no matter what.

This famous Psalm contains much more numeric perfection that I have yet to comprehend...

For instance, the Numeric Total of the original Hebrew of Psalm 23 is 13777 - just the header contains this Divine Fingerprint as well.

מזמור לדוד

A Psalm of David

Numeric Value = 337

This is the 8th Star Number

I've displayed the significance of the the Divine Number 37 in several posts, see this one for more details:
