Sin Undone

The first recorded miracle that was performed by Yeshua was turning the water into wine at the wedding in Cana. I never thought too much into the depth of it until here recently.

“When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”

And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” And they filled them up to the brim.

And he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” So they took it.

When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom

and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”

This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee, and manifested his glory. And his disciples believed in him.

After this he went down to Capernaum, with his mother and his brothers and his disciples, and they stayed there for a few days.” - John 2:3-12

The thing that I never realized is the dual nature of this particular miracle.

It takes time to make wine, it has to have time to ferment. Technically turning the water into juice would be one thing, but understanding how the process of time to turn juice into wine makes this something much more significant altogether. It’s essentially like Yeshua turned back the clock and undone time in that exact moment of transformation.

This is exactly what He does for us when we accept Him as Our LORD and Savior. When we sin, it’s done and cannot be undone - only when we are covered by The Blood of His Ultimate Sacrifice are we purified; it’s like our previous sins never happened. It’s as if He turns back time and undoes our sin.

“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.” - Isaiah 1:18

I completely understand how some people view the cross as a symbol of torture and death. Some people go as far as to say that wearing a cross is akin to wearing an electric chair. That would be an earthly way of looking at it, but it’s way more than that to me. I see it as The Ultimate Symbol of Eternal Life. Not only that, the cross represents all sin that was put to death on that cross, the sin that Yeshua took upon Himself for the sake of each one of us. To me, it is a constant reminder of Salvation which is The Greatest Gift of Grace that has ever been bestowed upon mankind. It helps me stay humble and I realize it more and more each day - to pick up my own cross and follow His Teachings. Bless The LORD!

“For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” - 2 Corinthians 5:21

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” - 1 John 1:9

“And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment,

and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.”

And Jesus answering said to him, “Simon, I have something to say to you.” And he answered, “Say it, Teacher.”

“A certain moneylender had two debtors. One owed five hundred denarii, and the other fifty.

When they could not pay, he cancelled the debt of both. Now which of them will love him more?”

Simon answered, “The one, I suppose, for whom he cancelled the larger debt.” And he said to him, “You have judged rightly.”

Then turning toward the woman he said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she has wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.

You gave me no kiss, but from the time I came in she has not ceased to kiss my feet.

You did not anoint my head with oil, but she has anointed my feet with ointment.

Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven--for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.”

And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”

Then those who were at table with him began to say among themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”

And he said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” - Luke 7:37-50
