Stillness of The Heart

Updated: Oct 23, 2023

It is extremely important that we all understand that in order to achieve Unity (“Oneness”) with Our Creator, we must have inner stillness. Inner stillness requires discipline and complete focus on the presence of G*d from the depths of our hearts. To find this stillness, we must focus on Him and only Him. We have to know that He is Everywhere at All Times. We must align Our Mind and Our Heart on Him Only. We must tune out all of the distractions in this world, this is especially necessary for our prayers to be effective.

“He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” - Psalms 23:2

“And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” - Mark 4:39-41

The Stronger Our Faith = The Greater Our Peace

Notice how He "rebuked the wind" and told the sea to be still - as in, “He leadeth me beside the still waters"

Air is necessary for life, so why did Jesus rebuke it? Paul gives us a good hint regarding this:

“Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience” - Ephesians 2:2

The Prince of The Power of The Air is The Adversary, and we must walk in The Spirit and Not of The Flesh. From all this, we learn that though Air is necessary for Our Flesh (which is temporary) to live, it is Yeshua gives Our Spirit Everlasting Life!

How amazing is it to see how though we are given freedom of choice,  G*d uses all of His Creation to carry out His Will, regardless of it's choice! It’s little nuggets like this that give us a better understanding of His Ways and how everything is necessary, and why “bad things happen to good people” and vice versa.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” - Isaiah 55:8-9

Remember what happened when Peter looked away from Jesus:

“And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” - Matthew 14:29-30

If we look away from G*d and focus on this storm that is going on all around us, we will begin to sink as well.

Keep Your Eyes of The LORD and everything will be peaceful and remain calm before you at all times. We must do this now more than ever before.

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight." - Proverbs 3:5-6

Pay close attention that God tells us to Trust in Him with All of Our HEART, and not just our mind. Our emotions come from the heart and we must always guard our hearts to keep our emotions from pulling us into the wrong directions - Jeremiah warns us about this. If something has been put on our heart that does not align with The Word of The LORD, then we must never follow that. The Mind and The Heart have to be perfectly aligned at all times, this is Central Path and The Narrow Way that leads to The LORD.

"The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?" - Jeremiah 17:9

This is why Solomon told us to guard our hearts:

"Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." - Proverbs 4:23

There are four chambers of the heart; the left atrium and right atrium (upper chambers), and the left ventricle and right ventricle (lower chambers). The Jewish Rabbis wrote about the four chambers of the heart being akin to the four letters of Sacred Holy Name of Our LORD  ( יהוה ) - just as there are four letters in Yeshua ( ישוע ). This also relates to the four rivers that flow from Eden; the Euphrates, the Tigris, the Gihon and the Pishon - as it is written, "from it flow the springs of life."

So, how do we Trust in the LORD with all of our hearts? Our emotions have to line up with His Instructions. We don't simply follow His Commandments out of obedience, we must incline our hearts want to follow His Instruction out of an emotional desire to be closer to Him and to make Him proud of us. When we begin to understand that His Torah (Law) is a Gift of Grace, much like The Ultimate Gift of His Son, Yeshua. We don’t follow His Commandments out of necessity and blind obedience, but out of desire to achieve Unity with Our Heavenly Father - and this is Fruit of The Holy Spirit.

Hopefully everyone who reads this can begin to see why James told us the following:

“So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” - James 2:17-18

As Our Faith Grows, Our Works Will As Well, Then We Will Produce Fruit.

No amount of works can ever be performed by anyone to gain entry into His Kingdom. Salvation is The Most Precious Free Gift that can only be received through Faith in Yeshua - and that Faith of His Only Son as Our LORD (The WORD Made Flesh who Dwelt Among Us) will bring The Holy Spirit into our lives, then comes works and the fruit that will lead others to Him. This is how we effectively spread The Gospel and disciple properly to others, our lives (works) must reflect our faith and the message that we have all been called to share.

חסד ושלום עליכם והרבה אהבה וברכות

May Grace and Peace Be Upon You and Much Love and Blessings!
