There are tons of parallels that we can observe between Jonah and Yeshua, I will have to put together a post going through those in the future.
For now, here's an interesting little piece of wisdom for you. In the Gospel of Matthew, Yeshua states the following:
"An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed." - Matthew 16:4
So, the question is, what is the "Sign of Jonah"? Of course, we must go back to Hebrew to find out. The name Jonah in Hebrew is יונה (pronounced Yonah, as there are no J's in Hebrew). In Hebrew, Yonah ( יונה ) means Dove.
Earlier in the Gospel of Matthew, when Yeshua was baptized, we see this "Sign of Jonah":
"And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” - Matthew 3:17
So, the Sign of Jonah was the dove that descended when Yeshua was baptized, this was the only sign that was given. This is yet another example of why it is important for us to learn Hebrew, in order to get the most out of our studies.
