"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God" - Revelation 3:14
Why does Yeshua refer to himself as "the Amen" in this passage?
Understand that when we see the word "LORD" (in all CAPS) in our English translations of the Hebrew scriptures, that it is referring to name יהוה (these are the letters Yod, Hei, Vav, Hei). This is the most sacred name that we do not attempt to pronounce and when we see this name in the Hebrew scriptures, so instead, we say אדני (Adonai). As in our physical realm, the name אדני (Adonai) is used in reference to יהוה (Yod, Hei, Vav, Hei), which can be understood as representing the spiritual realm. Just to reiterate this point, understand that when we see יהוה , we say אדני (Adonai).
In order to truly understand what Yeshua was actually saying by referring to himself as "Amen", then we must break down the numerical values of this word in it's original Hebrew. The divinity of our Creator can witnessed in the mathematical perfection observed throughout all of creation and his Holy Language is no different.
The gematria value of Amen (אמן) is 91
(Aleph = 1, Mem = 40 and Nun = 50; thus the sum is 91)
Now we break down the gematria values of יהוה and אדני :
The gematria value of יהוה is 26
(Yod = 10, Hei = 5, Vav = 6 and Hei = 5; thus the sum is 26)
The gematria value of אדני (Adonai) is 65
(Aleph = 1, Dalet = 4, Nun = 50 and Yod = 10; thus the sum is 65)
When we combine numerical values of these two powerful names for our Heavenly Father (26 + 65) the total sum is 91; which is the value of Amen.
Another way to understand this is that when we say the word "Amen" at the end of our prayers, we are actually merging the physical and spiritual realms together, as אדני (representing the physical) merges with יהוה (representing the spiritual).
Whenever we say the Hebrew word "Amen", we should visualize the perfection of the unification of the physical (אדני) and the spiritual (יהוה); which wrote out would be יאהדונהי and this is exactly what we should visualize in our mind when saying Amen.
אמן = יאהדונהי
