Yeshua Accurately Predicted by Daniel

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

We should all be at least a little familiar with the Book of Daniel and his Seventy Weeks/Sevens Prophecy and if not, then today's the day...

Understand that the original Hebrew term here that most English translations refers to as "Weeks", is "Shabuim" ( שבעים ) - which is the plural form of the word "Shabua" ( שבע ).

The term "Shabua" ( שבע ) literally means a "A Period of Seven" and in this case it's plural "Shabuim" ( שבעים ) - so it would be a "Period of Sevens".

So, it's not weeks that Daniel is talking about here, it a period of Seven Years, and knowing that little bit will make the rest of this post flow much better.

I'm not going to say that I totally understand the entire prophecy (as people constantly dispute over the final Shabuim) or try to say that I have unraveled the end of it (although I do sincerely believe The Final Shabuim has recently started, but I won't go into all of that - at least not in this post). The goal of this post is to show everyone that Daniel accurately predicted Yeshua as The Messiah. Please share this post with as many of our Jewish Brothers and Sisters as possible. It's crucial that they understand this right now and that they open their eyes and hearts to The Truth of Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus Christ) - who is Their True Jewish Messiah. This is their book and their prophet has laid this all of this out so perfectly for them to see. They can no longer disregard the fact that the entire world has come to know the G*d of Israel through His Only Begotten Son, Yeshua (Jesus).

Shema Yisrael!

This Is What You Need To Hear, Israel!

Here is the simplest way that I've seen it broken down, taken from my Hebrew New Testament (Prophecy Edition).

PROPHECY

(TANAKH / Old Covenant)

THE TIME OF MESSIAH'S DEATH FORETOLD

Daniel 9:25, 26a

Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall

be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;

FULFILLMENT

(New Covenant)

Matthew 24:1, 2

And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings

of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Matthew 27:35

And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet,

Yeshua HaMashiach (Messiah Ben Yosef) was cut off (killed) in approximately A.D. 32. Soon after, in A.D. 70 the Roman emperor Titus, as God foretold by the prophet Daniel, devastated Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple.

Messiah was not cut off (killed) for himself: He is righteous and never could be worthy of death. He died for our iniquities.

Daniel 9:25

Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks [49 years], and threescore and two weeks [434 years]: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

26a

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary;

• God's Biblical calendar in Scripture (cf. Gen. 7:11, 24; 8:3, 4) has a 30 day month and a 360 day year.

• The Julian calendar has a 365 day year.*

• 1 prophetical week = 7 actual years (cf. Gen. 29:18, 20, 28).

The commandment to rebuild was given (Nehemiah 2:1-8) in 444 B.C.**

1 week is 7 years, therefore 7 weeks = 49 years (7 x 7 = 49)

-49 years

Threescore and two weeks, 62 weeks, (62 x 7 = 434)

+434 years

483 years × 360 days (Biblical calendar) = 173,880 days = 483 years

173,880 days divided by 365 days (Julian calendar) = 476 years

Thus, there are 476 Julian years in 483 Biblical years.

444 B.C. + 476 years = A.D. 32, Messiah cut off, i.e., His crucifixion.

* Prophetical calculations of time in God's word are divinely given and accurate. Even with slight variations in our lunar and Julian calendars, Messiah's crucifixion can be accurately narrowed down to within a ten year period in the first century.

According to God's word, Messiah has to have been crucified already.

The crucifixion of Yeshua HaMashiach Ben Yosef (Jesus Christ / Son of Joseph / The Suffering Servant) has been historically documented as taking place within this very time frame.

** Most scholars agree that the commandment to rebuild Jerusalem was given in 444 B.C. Adding the exact number of years stated in Daniel chapter 9 brings us to A.D. 32 (give or take a few years depending on the calendar you use).
